Gem City Mayssacre 2026

Several years ago the local players asked for a small 1 day tournament in the spring (we already had the Gem City Massacre in December).  So I thought it would be funny to call it the Gem City Mayssacre (since it would take place in May).  I liked to have it the Sunday AFTER Mother's day, but there is a new GT in Columbus (already sold out) that weekend.  Because of that we ended up with the first Sunday instead and made it a "practice" tournament for that one (so it was 2400 points, making it a bit longer than normal).

Unfortunately attendance was down this year, though we are hoping that as the "Fracture" and "Arrogance" expansion books more players will come back to the game as balancing issues are addressed.  We had seven players (after two dropping out at the last minute :-) ).

Jeff Franz, Paul Cravo, Felix Castro, Steve Malone, Grace Patterson.  Not Picture - Erich Trowbridge & Cyle (with a C) Pool

Because we had an odd number of players, I had to step in and play.  It gave me a chance to play with the list I am planning on taking in two weeks, but it isn't fully painted yet - and having to both play and run the event makes it a bit more challenging.  And I get busy playing and forget to get pictures of the event going on.

Specifically, I got busy getting my butt handed to me by Erich Trowbridge (again) in round 1, so didn't get picture.

While we enjoyed pizza from the Pizza Hut at the end of the strip mall, all the armies were set out for paint judging.

My (not quite done) Xirkaali.  I have two regiments of spearwardens and the goklu to finish.

After lunch I did manage to get some pictures of the games

Felix Castro waiting for me to get done taking pictures and get back to playing

Cyle Pool v Steve Malone

Jeff Franz v Paul Cravo

Unfortunately due to family issues, Cyle (with a C) and Erich took a gentleman's draw for their third round game and headed out early.

Felix Castro v Paul Cravo

Grace Patterson v Steve Malone

Jeff Franz carefully measuring the first moves of nearly tabling me.

And then we were done.

Felix Castro - Dice Hate Me (last place)

Erich Trowbridge - Counter Charger (dead center - 4th out of 8)

Felix Castro - Best Appearance

Jeff Franz - Best General

Cyle (with a C) Pool - Jesse Cornwell Sportsman

Steve Malone - Overall Champion
