First I'm sorry I haven't posted in a bit - between holidays, traveling and preparing for Origins (is it really just next week!) I haven't sat down just to write things up. So I'm trying to catch up.
The initial release of Champions included 2 companies in the starter box, and two more company boxes.
First is Jordan Talensen and the Northern Alliance.
This company is the hero, a ravenclaw, and two troops of tribesmen (one with hand weapons, the other with spears).
If you want to see details on the sprues for the frostclaw rider and tribesmen (back when they were called clansmen), you can check out my post on them here (frostclaws) and here (tribesmen).
Jordan Telensen is the new unique hero

Much like with the
Forces of the Abyss, I already had the hard plastic units painted (at least most of them). So I took one of the Frostclaw riders, a troop of tribesmen with hand weapons, and then swapped out the hand weapons for javelins for another troop (so the new arms/javelins had to be painted). I re-arranged these a little as well - trying to make the hunters mostly female.

Of course the company box includes all the cards (4 units and the faction orders), a quick assembly reference and MDF unit bases for the units (as well as the special resin base for the hero).
There was also (what I thought was) a scrap of MDF that I almost threw away.
The company box is La'theal Voidheart and the Twilight Kin.
I noticed there was another MDF scrap in the box as well.
Of course if you have been paying attention to Champions, you probably already know that these are not scraps, but are instead a puzzle.
Speculation is that this will be the symbol for a new faction to come (the surprise that Ronnie Renton has mentioned coming in November).
Because it is all fun and games . . .
