Adepticon 2025 1: Armada

So Adepticon 2025 is in the books.  It was a great show, and apparently one of the best ever for Mantic.  I ran four tournaments (Armada, Kings of War: Ambush, Halo:Flashpoint - Single Weapon Challenge and Halo:Flashpoint Teams).  Each will have it's own blog post.

I have to apologize, I intended to spend Monday resting and writing up the posts - but for the first time I can remember, I came down with the Con Crud - running a 101 temperature for a couple of days, and sinus headaches - making me value the the base ability to simply breathe.  So instead of taking one extra day, I took two days off, and while the fever is basically gone, now I have the cough from the drainage and still fatigued.  Of course it didn't help that I did not sleep worth a crap all weekend, and as usual seemed to have ended up dehydrated.

Anyway, while not 100% better, I'm now down in the basement with my dog who is horribly scared by thunderstorms, waiting for the massive line of red on the radar to pass, so I figured I'd try to get started on these.

So first of these is Armada: Blood in the Water.  We had 10 players for the tournament

David Rueppell, Caleb Baley, Michael Reeves, Nicole Karolus, James Gustafson, Andrew Karolus, Sean Rogerson,Andrew Korenic, Mike Coleman (not pictured - Rob Phaneuf)

First round was "In Hot Water" where the fleets were attempting to rescue survivors in the water around an exploding volcano, where if you got too close you had the chance to get hit by the volcano.

There was a glitch that we encountered in the Mantic Companion.  After randomizing tables for game 3, I had to move the spare players (which the companion always adds) to the 'spare' table (i.e. table 6, which doesn't exist).  For some reason, even though I showed the move on the site, Caleb still saw himself playing spare2.  I thought this was fixed when I saw his score show up, but Caleb messaged me about it, and I found that is score ended up under the spare2 player, and his score was a duplicate of the person he played (Mike Colman).  So that game originally showed they both lost.

I found the issue, manually corrected the scores (which moved Caleb from 9th place to 6th), and correct the web site.

Then came time for the awards.

3rd Place - Andrew Karolus

Best Appearance - Caleb Baley

2nd Place - James Gustafson

Most Sporting - Nicole Karolus

1st Place - Sean Rogerson

Overall everyone seemed to have a good time and enjoyed themselves.

Hope to see everyone back again next year.

Because it is all fun and games . . .
