Grow the hobby
Day - 1
The 10-day plastic models challenge. Every day, I select an image from a day in the life of building models that has had an impact on me, or was a memorable moment, and post it without a single explanation. Then I nominate somebody to take the challenge. That’s 10 days, 10 model photos, 10 nominations and 0 explanation active, be positive, be passionate... Grow the hobby

Ok, if you know me at all, you know I love telling a story.  The whole challenge about posting pictures without any explanation - well why I might not put it on Facebook initially, I figured I could use this as a great place to add the explanation (and more) for each of my 10 photos.

So Day 1.  This is a so called "plastic" challenge - but I'm looking at it more of a modelling challenging - most plastic, but not all.

As a kid, I was introduced to model cars and planes, like so many my age.  But I was really never interested in them as much - I liked sci-fi much more.  I also discovered that there was a problem with 'normal' model kits - no matter how much enjoyment you may have gotten building them, once they are complete they do nothing but gather dust until they eventually get broken.

One of the few plastic model kits I remember was getting the original Monogram Battlestar Galactica model.  Plus I remember some type of lights I tried to put inside, which may have been a lighting kit, or I may have seen it and tried to do it myself (since it was 40 years ago, I'm not 100% clear on it :-) ).

After I built it, I hung it from fishing wire in my room.  It was accompanied by many other models (not really plastic but . . . ) - however that is for the another installment.

Because it is all fun and games . . .
