It is only natural

Not long after the kickstarter for Vanguard shipped there were rumors that the next warband to be released would be goblins (which are coming in May).  However, to throw everyone a curve ball - Forces of Nature are coming out in April.

Force of Nature Warband Set MGVAF101 £29.99/€39.99/$44.99
When the balance of the world is truly threatened, the druids call upon all manner o creatures to protect it. From the vicious Salamanders to the lumbering Forest Shamblers, all answer the call. The ground shakes and the forests heave as the Forces of Nature march to war.

  • 5 Hard Plastic Salamanders with weapon options
  • 5 Hard Plastic Naiads with weapon options
  • 2 Metal Wild Companions
  • 1 Metal Druid
While I have not seen the official list of cards, my guess is the following cards will be in the starter (these profiles are already in the book and available via Easy Army
  • Centaur Bray-Strider
  • Druid
  • Salamander Unblooded
  • Naiad
  • Naiad Ensnarer
  • Wild Companion
The salamanders and naiads are the plastic sprues already available for the Nature, Salamander and Trident Realm armies, and the wild companions are from the elf line.

However Mantic is listing a brand new druid sculpt in the box, so if you want that unique sculpt it is the only way to get it.

They are then releasing several support packs.

Forces of Nature Support Pack: Centaur Chief, MGVAF202, £9.99/€12.49/$14.99
To lead the Centaur herds is to be marked for greatness. The wise individuals have fought for many long years and would see their people survive, whatever comes to pass.

This is a second command model for Nature, and a nice sculpt (I have on in my Nature army in fact).  The halberd is a bit too fragile (being metal), so I replaced it with a piece of brass rod, and am very happy with this model.

Forces of Nature Support Pack: Centaurs, MGTC116, £12.49/€14.99/$17.99
Centaurs are a race of simple hunter-gatherers with strong ties to the earth. Although generally peaceful, they are highly territorial and will attack and run down any who provoke them. These swift hunting warriors are a valuable assets any Druid’s warband.

So to go with the command are two more centaurs.  These are models from their existing metal centaurs, which, while they look nice, are some of my least favorite models because of the amount the back legs break (and how fiddly the bray strider is to put together.

As for cards, I've seen that it will include 2 or 3

  • Centaur Bray-Strider
  • Centaur Bray-Hunter
  • Centaur Tenderhoof

Of no nature force is complete without elementals

Forces of Nature Support Pack: Fire Elemental, MGVAF402, £12.49/€14.99/$17.99
The rage of nature personified, Fire Elementals are difficult to control and dangerous to both friend and foe.

This resin model is one of the ones that is available for the nature or salamander armies.  This comes with the Fire Elemental card, but may also come with the Earth Elemental card.

Forces of Nature Support Pack: Forest Shambler, MGVAF401, £9.99/€12.49/$14.99
The ancient guardians of the forest, these ponderous beings can be roused to war by powerful Druids or Tree Herders.

Ok, so technically NOT an elemental, I kind of think of these as wood or tree elementals.  This is one of the metal models that is also available in the elf or nature Kings of War range.

Forces of Nature Support Pack: Gladewalker Druid, MGVAF201, £7.99/€9.99/$12.99
The varied warriors of the Forces of Nature can only be brought together by the power and authority of a Druid – a representative of the Green Lady herself.

This is the legendary version of the Dungeon Saga hero Kapoka (though in metal instead of resin).
It comes with a Gladewalker Druid card (which is both command and spellcaster), and may also have a water elemental card in the pack.

So this looks like the full Forces of Nature list (14 cards) will be
  • Centaur Bray-Strider (Warrior)
  • Druid (Spellcaster)
  • Salamander Unblooded (Grunt)
  • Naiad (Warrior)
  • Naiad Ensnarer (Warrior)
  • Centaur Chief (Command)
  • Wild Companion (Support)
  • Forest Shambler (Large)
  • Gladewalker Druid (Spellcaster, Command)
  • Fire Elemental (Large, Support)
  • Centaur Bray-Hunter (Warrior)
  • Centaur Tenderhoof (Grunt)
  • Earth Elemental (Large)
  • Water Elemental (Large)
Because it is all fun and games . . .

  1. I dunno how to feel about the price point of this release, I mean the warband just doesnt seem worth it when the battle of the glades set provides that content and more minus the cards for less than double the cash.

the other sets seems decent enough in value, if only because they allow us to take our regiments of 3 and turn them into hordes of 4
