The King is Dead
Today we come to you with a heavy heart. Due to the lower than expected participation, we are unable to have the War Kings GT on March 9th and 10th 2019. Unless we hear otherwise, we will be refunding all registration fees paid by participants on Friday, Feb 22nd. As of today we only had 11 people registered and the hotel has a fixed cost of $1100. This plus other costs (prizes, awards, swag) meant that the tournament at the Wingate was just not feasible with less than 20 players. With the slow rate of pre-registration we could not guarantee that many. After many discussions, the Ohio War Kings event council felt it was better to make the call now so that people can adjust their plans. And we can put our support behind the region’s other March events.

We also want to make the announcement that the War Kings GT for 2019 IS happening – we have just moved to another date and venue, Epic Loot game store in Springfield OH on May 25th and 26th. May is pretty open with the move of TnT and we hope players will like this move. The event will now be 5 rounds instead of six to accommodate store/mall hours. This store has a huge gaming area. And we may be able to move into another part of the mall as well if needed. In addition, the costs to hold it in the store are per player (not a flat fee), so this event WILL happen. We are also passing savings on to the players by lowering the tournament fee to $50 (and part of that fee will actually count toward player credit at the store!). If that all isn’t enough, we are also going to add a small Kings of War: Vanguard event on Friday evening, May 24th. This will be of limited size and time, but should be a chance to people to bring out their warbands as well.
The store is located in the Upper Valley Mall in Springfield OH – 1375 Upper Valley Pike, Springfield OH 45504. There is a Subway, Mark Pi’s Express (Chinese), and Pretzel shop in the mall, as well as McDonalds, Taco Bell, Rally’s, Frickers and a few other restaurants close by.
