September SW Ohio Mantic Pathfinder News

I am just having a hard time grasping time right now - how could Labor Day have already come and gone? Where did the summer go?

Gencon was fantastic, as always.  Unfortunately some of the scheduled help wasn't able to make it, so I ended up doing a bit more than intended, but it was still a great show.  Meeting and talking with everyone, even those I can't remember, is always great.  Thanks to everyone who did help to make it such a great show.  We are already thinking about next year!

Mantic has the Edge of the Abyss campaign going on.  You can submit your results (don't forget they want 3 pictures of each game) at the beasts of war site - https://edgeoftheabyss.warconsole.com/ .

I have actually had the chance to play in two tournaments lately, and did surprisingly well - going 4-2 at Sword of Kings (coming in 9th) and 3-1 at Indy tournament (tying for 3rd).  Ohio has been representing very well in the Midwest tournaments.

Speaking of which, we now have a date locked down for the third annual Gem City Massacre.  It will once again be held at Epic Loot in Centerville OH on December 2nd.  Right now we are capping attendance at 20, and as this is one of the last chances to get you small tournament score in for the Masters.  Kara Brown has generously taken over running this, and has some fun ideas for this.  Watch the Ohio War Kings facebook page for signups and the tournament pack coming soon!

There are other events coming up in the midwest as well. DragonFall is one of the last Midwest Masters qualifier tournaments October 20 & 21.  Check it out at https://www.dragon-fall.com/.  And the Cleveland chapter of the Ohio War Kings is having a tournament up at Recess games on November 11th - http://www.recess.net/event/kings-of-war-tournament/.

Speaking of the Kings of War US Masters Championship, the date has been set - February 24th and 25th in Chicago.  While most of the midwest team has their spots locked in, the final few positions are still in play and the season isn't over yet.

I haven't gotten a date/location for the Dayton GT yet in late April / early May yet, but hope to be announcing that soon.

Mantic has said that the Veer-myn Tunnelers are due to arrive September 19th and be shipped out within a few days., and should start shipping almost immediately.  The Asterian and GCPS vehicles are being worked on - I hope they will be here before the end of the year.

Dreadball 2 is getting close now.  The rule book is scheduled to go to print soon.  We had a great league playtest session recently with lots of feedback to make this fun game even better.

Star Saga is on schedule, and I'll be putting up some dates soon on when I'll be doing demos of this new sci-fi dungeon crawl.  I saw some of the miniatures at Gencon - it is looking like a lot of fun.

The Ohio War Kings are growing, as we now have 19 official members (either by paying for their membership, or working events).  Checkout our web page ( https://goo.gl/XWazhG ) for details on membership - remember all Regiment members and above will be eligible for the club discount on their Origins badge next year! We continue to meet up on Friday nights at 6 pm - the 1st, 3rd (and 5th when it happens) Fridays are at Epic Loot, the 2nd and 4th are at the Hobby Shop.
We have just gotten in more of the Ohio War Kings messenger bags - still only $20!  Ohio War Kings dice are $1 each, or 6 for $5.00, and we even have some shirts in stock as well.

Tkanks to all the members.  Your membership goes towards the cost of events (prizes, terrain, mats) and helps us to continue to put on great events.

If you can't get enough of me babbling on about games and hobbies, please check out my blog at http://blog.untilsomebodylosesaneye.net/ .  Somehow this past year I've managed to find enough to update twice a week (Monday and Thursday at 6:00 pm) and I hope to continue to share my bizarre thoughts with everyone.  If there is something you want me to write about let me know - I definitely take requests (and my son Jon says he gives me all my good ideas anyway).
