Eventually things get done

So during my usual browsing of the Mantic message boards the other day, I ran across a topic about assembling the Mantic Supreme Ironcaster on Great Winged Halfbreed.  Of course I commented about mine, and then someone mentioned they had the Raging Heroes Manticore with Shedu head - and of course I mentioned mine, as it is the centerpiece of my Abyssal Dwarf army now.

In response, the great and powerful Dan King himself asked if I had ever posted photos of it painted up.  My initial thought was "of course" - so I went to find that link.

And it wasn't there.  I found one picture on my post about the Masters tournament, but apparently I had never posted the rest.  Luckily I still have all the pictures I took back in February.

So that is now being fixed.

Behold, my finished Supreme Ironcaster on Great Winged Halfbreed, with the unique mounted Arhak Soulbinder original green sculpt on a Raging Heroes Manticore w/Shedu head.

Did I mention how big the wingspan on this is?  I ended up not being able to crop this picture at all
I do think the smoke on the smokestack and the flame on the vacuum cleaner help

One unfortunate thing about this model, is from 'normal' views you can't see the cool head, so I took a shot from 'ground' level
However, since I was already working on this one, I figured it was time to finish the conversion I had started so many years ago. Now I don't think I will EVER need 3 Supreme Ironcasters on Great Winged Abyssal in my Abyssal Dwarf army.  So the Mantic one is I will use as an Overlord on Abyssal Dragon, the Raging Heroes is my SIoGWA in my army, and this conversion is the actual Arhak Soulbinder on Martaxawar (his Manticore) (even though that model no longer exists in 2nd edition Kings of War).

In addition, it bothered me a little that I had this great model on foot that NEVER got used because he was on a 40 mm base (I know, I can use him, but being on a bigger base is an actual disadvantage, and I need all the help I can get).  So I rebased my original Arhak Soulbinder model to fit on a 20mm base (basically pulling all the legs in).  When I don't use the SIoGWF, I use this as an Ironcaster.

Because it is all fun and games . . .
