December SW Ohio Mantic Pathfinder News

If you can't tell by the frost on your car this morning, you have to have heard the incessant music that some places have already been playing for a month.  Lights, shopping and Charlie Brown seem to mark the fact it is Christmas time again.

So what Christmas presents can we expect from Jolly Ole Ronnie and his army of Mantic Minions?

Star Saga.  It has arrived.  The bad news is they discovered that the kickstarter editions were missing the chararacter cards from the base game.  The good news is they found this BEFORE they shipped them all out - so it has delayed the shipping for about a week.  However even with the flood of deliveries this time of year, people should still see this fantastic new game before Christmas.  And if you didn't back the kickstarter - well go down to your FLGS and have them get a copy in for you - it is already showing up on store shelves!

Hot on the heals of Star Saga (or as hot as a slow container ship coming from China can be) the kickstarter versions of Dreadball II are on thie way.  This is scheduled to hit Mantic HQ just before Christmas - so everyone can have a very merry new year playing the latest and greatest version of the Galactic Co-Prosperity Sphere's most popular game ever!

But even before either of these arrives - Gem City Massacre is once again happening at Epic Loot in Centerville on December 2nd.  (We do need to work on it sliding back a month each year on the calendar though).  While we were sold out, a few people have had to drop out near the last minute, so there are still some slots available.  Kara Brown is in charge of it this year, and it promises to be full of fun and Christmas surprises.

But that isn't the most exciting Kings of War news.  We have firmed up the dates and announced the first annual War Kings GT, happening the weekend of April 21 & 22 at the Wingate hotel in Fairborn (across from Wright State University).  This is the first Kings of War GT held in Ohio!  6 games of 2250 points, each general will need to create their own War King to lead their forces (much in the same way as was done for the International Campaign Day).  The cost is $60 before March 1st, and $65 after.  Go to https://goo.gl/WW2k1n for full details and to sign up.  This will also use the CoK 2018 updates, once they are released.  This is sure to be a great time, and we are already looking at some cool and unique swag for all the players as well.

Adepticon has opened registration for 2018.  Mantic has a whole slate of events, and if you have the stamina they have arranged it so you can play in ALL their championships if you so choose.  Dreadball, Deadzone, Warpath: Firefight and Kings of War all have tournaments (as well as the Kings of War Team Tournament).

If you are looking for a smaller tournament, DayCon is coming back again on April 7th (so just in time to warm up for War Kings).  This is a one day event, and there is no additional cost for it after signing up for Daycon at https://www.daycongaming.com/ .

Remember, you can support the Ohio War Kings by joining with a Regiment (or larger) membership - and get discount admission to Origins in Columbus in June.  Or pick up some dice, a messenger bag, or shirt.  All available to ohiowarkings.org .

Sometimes you just can't get me to shut up, so check out my twice weekly blog posts at http://untilsomebodylosesaneye.net. Of course feel free to comment or send me feedback - I'm always up for improvement!

At this time of celebration and giving, it is great to be able to spend a little time wit friends and family, and there is no better way to do this than sharing a great game.

May everyone have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with games and fun!
